I've been a fan of Nate & Jaclyn and their website The Image is Found for a while now. So, when the newly awarded 'Top 10 Wedding Photographers IN THE WORLD' announced that they were coming to London to host a one-day only workshop back in March... I literally jumped out of bed to book myself in. This was definitely an opportunity NOT to be missed.
A little over a month and a half later the day finally arrived. And it was great! No... Better than great!
Was it informative you ask? Yes! Was it inspirational? Yes! Was it a wake up call to change the way I work and the kind of work I produce? Absolutely!
Nate & Jaclyn come across exactly as they do on their blog. They are the nicest, funniest, straight up/tell it like it is, talented and creative individuals that I have met in a while. They know their stuff and they know how to make it work. As we headed outside to observe them create their magic, I just had to take a few snap shots on my iPhone to document the day.
I couldn't thank Nate & Jaclyn enough for coming all the way to London to share their wisdom with us and a big thank you to our fabulous models Chris & Dani Barber for being there too! xWay back in March, a fantastic group of local suppliers came together to contribute their skills to bring you this inspirational bridal shoot filled with all things lace and peachy coral goodness. I can finally reveal on here the full shoot since it's been featured over on Love My Dress. My first ever bridal shoot as photographer and I'm really pleased with the results. If you're planning your own wedding and looking for some great suppliers local to you in South London, do get in touch with our fabulous team.

Along with 12 other eager photographers, we gathered at The Hub to hear Emily Quinton give her first seminar/workshop on Wedding Photography. And it was Great!. A real down to earth discussion on all things business related from a creative approach to wedding photography to learning about marketing and getting your brand out through blogging and social networking. Plus all those extra little details in between. Safe to say the day was truly inspirational and reassuring that my thinking and progression is on the right track. :)
After lunch we headed to the canals behind Kings Cross to start the second half of our day, which was a styled "couples/engagement" shoot by Charley of London Bride. Our wonderful models Owen & Charis Warrell travelled a long way to join us for the afternoon but I'm so glad they did. They make such a cute couple and really great to photograph.
Thank you again to everyone for such a fab day. Looking forward to my next shoot!
Sometimes you get a craving for something sweet but have no chocolate in the house!!! Or you might need to bake something in a hurry when you have guests popping over for a cuppa tea!. Why not add this quick and simple recipe my mum taught me when I was little, to your baking repertoire and make your very own fruity jammy swiss roll.
{Ingredients}
• 5 eggs
• 5 tablespoons plain flour
• 5 tablespoons of brown or white or caster sugar
• 5 tablespoons of hot water
{Method}
First separate the 5 eggs into two separate bowls. Then add 5 tablespoons of brown sugar to the bowl with the yokes and whisk well until you get a smooth even mixture. Add one tablespoon of flour and one tablespoon of hot water. Mixing well, then repeat this process 4 more times.
Whisk the egg whites in the other bowl until firm and glossy. Then pour the contents of bowl one into bowl two and gently fold the two mixtures together making sure you don't break up the whisked egg whites too much.
Preheat your oven to 180C and prepare a flat oven tray (average size) with baking paper (waxy side up). Pour in the mixture and place in the oven to bake for 25 - 30 minutes.
When the sponge is golden brown, it's ready to take out of the oven. Flip the tray over onto a clean tea towel and remove the baking paper. Roll up the sponge with the tea towel and let it rest of 5 - 10 minutes. Unroll the tea towel whilst sponge is still warm and spread onto it a layer of your most favourite jam.
Then roll the sponge back up to form the swiss roll and lightly dust with icing sugar and it's ready to serve.
A tasty treat for one... two... or more! :)
Let me know if you give it a try would love to hear what you think!
I don't consider myself a Royalist but I couldn't let the opportunity of William and Catherine's Royal wedding pass me by without being there to capture such a unique moment. I am truly grateful and very lucky to have had the opportunity to take these photographs from where I was standing. It might have been an early start but I enjoyed the stroll from Marble Arch down Regents Street towards The Mall taking in the sights of London as I had never seen them before. Roads were empty and silent, shop windows adorned with flags and all things British in celebration of the Royal wedding, it was fantastic!. The atmosphere at Horseguards parade was joyous with people letting out an almighty roar at the sight of street cleaners whizzing along the route. Everyone was having fun! As more people gathered the excitement grew and then it was TIME!. A celebration of such a love between two people is an amazing thing, regardless of who they are and where they've come from!
So here's a big CONGRATS to the newlyweds and wishing them many many happy years ahead!
It would have been hard to find anyone on the street this afternoon who wasn't happy to see this young couple as two individuals, so in love, finally tie the knot! Congratulations to the newlyweds!!!
p.s. I particularly like the little flowergirls expression in this photo!. Priceless!
Keep an eye out for the full post. x
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
Yes, I know I'm a bit early but I was eager to share with you my 'mini' inspiration shoot for Easter. If you're thinking about having friends and family around for lunch over the the long weekend, why not get creative and make it extra fun!. I've always enjoyed making/styling my shoots and found that I had almost everything already at home (mostly left over fabric and ribbons from our wedding last year) bar the chocolates and cake. No hesitation going out to get those though, I mean, someone has to eat them once I'm done, right? :)
I really enjoyed putting this shoot together and hope you like it too. As many of you know, I've been so busy over the last six months that I've found myself creatively drained outside of work. Sadly, even my 365 has ground to a halt. :(((. Good news though, things have finally eased off enough that I and can now focus on exploring more creative ideas and work towards getting my photography business back on track. Perhaps even revisit my 365?! Watch this space! :)
Thanks for stopping by and have a great Easter break! x
A few weeks ago, I had my first baby photo shoot with the cutest little guy ever!
At only six months old, Oliver totally rocked the camera and I absolutely love all of his little expressions. I've been told babies develop so much in the first year that I'm grateful to have been able to capture these precious moments of Oliver as he discovers his world around him.
Thank you Donovan and Lisa for letting me spend the afternoon with you and your gorgeous little boy.
